Roots Yoga Studio - Jersey City

Here at Roots Yoga Studio, (formerly Sacred Souls Yoga Studio) we’ve been teaching yoga classes in Jersey City since 2015. Our classes focus on healing. Whether it’s weight gain, an injury, a health issue, or mental or emotional stress that's affecting you or you're just looking to maintain good overall fitness and health - we help you use yoga and its various teachings to help get you back to feeling whole and in control of your body and mind.


Our classes are taught in the traditional Hatha Yoga style. Hatha Yoga differs from other styles in that we generally move through postures here slowly. This helps break up any old patterns of stress in the mind and body and to help you reconnect with yourself and uncover the root causes of any mental, physical, or emotional blockage or imbalance.

Each class includes a combination of postures, breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation. All designed to help you go deeper within yourself and discover that inner silence and stillness.

Yoga was present in my life from a young age. We used tp have yoga books around the house, and sometimes I would look through them and try poses. But my curiosity was not much more than that until college, when I found myself unable to deal with daily stresses. That was when I was re-introduced to yoga by a friend. As I began my practice, immediately I noticed a real difference in myself and I knew I wanted to learn as much as I could about yoga - the science of it and the practice and immersed myself in it completely.

After some time practicing on my own and taking classes at various studios, I decided to get my certification and completed my Teacher Training course at Atmananda Yoga in Manhattan. I taught classes there for some time, then decided to open Roots Yoga Studio here in Journal Square, Jersey City where I lived. Now, after teaching for more than 7 years, and through my own journey and practice, I have understood that while people come to yoga for all sorts of reasons, and with different goals in mind - it is a practice that carries to potential to help each in the way that they need. In my classes, I treat yoga as a moving meditation. Meditation is woven throughout as we move through both simple and challenging postures and breathing exercises to quiet the mind, strengthen the mind and body, and ultimately create a space to connect with the soul.
